Before
Company email at Power Control Solutions had stopped working, and the team did not know why.
How Codelattice, a Google Workspace partner in India, got mail running on a new .in domain and configured the original .com once it came back.
Company email at Power Control Solutions had stopped working, and the team did not know why.
Mail now runs on powercontrolsolutions.in, set up by Codelattice, and the original .com domain has been configured as well since the client got it back.
2 domains configured + new mail IDs created on the .in domain + support ongoing since March 2021
Power Control Solutions is an electrical engineering design and construction company in Thiruvananthapuram, licensed with the Electrical Inspectorate, KSEBL and PWD. It supplies electrical designs, installations and services to a range of clients, and company email is part of how that work gets coordinated. When the team could no longer reach their mail, they contacted Codelattice in March 2021.
Codelattice checked the account and traced the problem to the domain itself. The company's .com registration had not been renewed, and someone else had since bought the same name. Email addresses depend on the domain they sit on, so once the domain was gone, the addresses attached to it stopped working. Codelattice informed the client of this finding.
Three things made this more than a routine fix:
No idea what had happened. The team had lost access to its email without any explanation, so a clear account of the cause mattered as much as the fix.
A domain that was no longer theirs. With the .com registered to someone else, the team could not rebuild on it, so any fix had to begin from a different address.
Pressure to get mail back quickly. The client wanted access to email as soon as possible, which meant working mail on another domain had to come before anything involving the .com.
Codelattice worked in the order the client's priorities set: explain the loss, get working mail back, then deal with the original domain if it returned. The client made the decision at each point, and Codelattice carried out the setup.
The steps below follow that order. The first two happened while the .com was still out of the client's hands, and the third came after the client got it back.
With the cause confirmed, Codelattice talked the client through what the lapse meant for its email and how to get mail working again. The client decided to purchase a .in domain and create new email IDs on it, so that mail access could return as soon as possible instead of waiting on the .com. That decision set the order for everything that followed.
Codelattice carried out the client's plan, creating the new IDs on the .in domain and completing all the configuration needed for Google Workspace mail to run there. The client was happy with how smoothly the new domain and its configuration came together, and with a working address again, the question of the .com could wait.
The client later retrieved the original domain. Codelattice then completed the configuration on the .com as well, so both domains were set up for the company's mail. The two domains were handled for different reasons and at different times:
| powercontrolsolutions.in | powercontrolsolutions.com | ||
|---|---|---|---|
| Why it was set up | To get working email quickly after the .com was lost | To restore the original domain once the client retrieved it | |
| When it happened | First, in response to the loss | Later, after retrieval | |
| What Codelattice did | Created new mail IDs and completed the configuration | Completed the configuration on the domain |
The engagement produced three things:
Power Control Solutions has Google Workspace mail set up on both domains, and the support relationship that began in March 2021 continues.
A lapsed domain is easy to miss and hard to explain to someone who only knows that their email has stopped. Codelattice is an authorized Google Workspace partner serving businesses across India, and this engagement shows how it handles a problem that starts outside the mailbox.
