On November 13, 2025, Codelattice, a global digital acceleration company, conducted an engaging and forward-looking Software Testing seminar at BITS Pilani, Dubai. The two-hour session, organized in collaboration with the university's Computer Science department, featured guest speaker Abbas Ahmad, President of the UAESTQB (UAE Software Testing Qualifications Board), and brought together students, faculty, and industry professionals for a deep dive into the evolving world of software testing.
The event was made possible through the support of Dr. Sujala, Head of the Computer Science Department at BITS Pilani, who invited Codelattice to deliver the session. Four to five faculty members who teach courses in programming, quality assurance, and software testing were also in attendance, underlining the academic significance of the seminar.
The first half of the seminar focused on demystifying the global framework of ISTQB certifications, the world’s leading qualification scheme for software testers. Abbas Ahmad began by outlining the structure, purpose, and reach of ISTQB, emphasizing its role as a unified, internationally recognized standard for software testing competence.
He walked students through the ISTQB Roadmap, detailing the progression from Foundation Level certifications to more advanced and specialized tracks. The session highlighted how each level equips testing professionals with broader capabilities, enabling them to tackle increasingly sophisticated challenges in quality assurance.
Abbas also emphasized the career value of ISTQB credentials. In an industry where skill validation is becoming increasingly essential, ISTQB acts as a trusted benchmark for recruiters and employers worldwide. He elaborated on how certified testers often stand out in job applications, gain access to better opportunities, and benefit from a clearer career trajectory.
To give students a sense of community beyond certifications, Abbas introduced the global ISTQB ecosystem, explaining how various testing boards collaborate, share knowledge, and uplift industry standards.
