Project overview

Before

Edumpus ran its team on Google Workspace Business Starter accounts. When renewal came up, the team wanted a better rate. Then Google removed the option to buy extra storage on Starter accounts, and Edumpus still needed more space.

After

Edumpus now holds a three-year commitment price on its Business Starter accounts, and 10 of its users have moved to Business Standard for the extra storage they needed. Support continues round the clock through Codelattice.

The challenge

Edumpus Portal LLP is an education ecosystem that entered the market in 2018 and now counts 500+ institutions from 15+ countries in its portfolio. Its offerings include the Global Educational Network, the Global Admissions Consortium and Edumpus Triadge. For a network that size, email and storage have to work every day, which keeps the Google Workspace setup under steady demand.

Edumpus first approached Codelattice to create its email IDs. The relationship carried on from there. When renewal came around, the team asked about Google Workspace pricing India for its existing Business Starter accounts and whether a better discount was possible. Later, Edumpus learned that Google had stopped the option to buy additional storage on Starter accounts, and the team needed more space. A standard renewal covers neither question, so Edumpus came back to Codelattice looking for a price it could commit to and a way to add storage where it was needed.

Those conversations raised a specific set of challenges:

Edumpus wanted a lower rate on the Business Starter accounts it already used at renewal, and the standard price list did not offer a clear route to one.

With Google having stopped the additional storage purchase option for Starter accounts, Edumpus could no longer simply buy more space for the users who were running short.

Upgrading every account to a larger plan would have raised costs across the whole team, so Edumpus needed an option that covered only the users who needed more storage.

A three-year commitment only works when the partner behind it stays responsive for the whole term, so the offer had to come with dependable Google Workspace Support.

Users short on storage were still working in the meantime, so both requests needed a quick resolution rather than a long back-and-forth with Google that left them waiting.

Our approach

Codelattice treated this as two connected requests. The first was a better rate for Edumpus. The second was solving the storage gap without paying for upgrades nobody needed. Both depended on a direct line to Google, and Codelattice already had one.

Codelattice is a Google Workspace partner India businesses can go to for pricing and support, which meant the team could take the question to Google directly instead of working from list prices. That set the order of the work: pricing first, storage second, with each step confirmed with Edumpus before the next began.

STEP 1

Starting from what Edumpus already had

The engagement began in September 2021 with the creation of Edumpus's email IDs on Google Workspace Business Starter. When the renewal and storage questions came up, Codelattice went back to that setup and reviewed how many accounts were in use and which users needed more storage. That gave the team a clear picture of what to ask Google for.

STEP 2

Asking Google for a customized offer

Codelattice took the Google Workspace pricing India question to Google and asked for a customized offer for Edumpus. Google came back with a special price tied to a three-year commitment on the Business Starter accounts. Codelattice recommended taking it. Edumpus already planned to stay with Codelattice for years, so the longer term matched what the team intended to do anyway.

STEP 3

Finding a way around the storage limit

Google no longer sold extra storage for Starter accounts, so buying space was off the table. Codelattice asked Google whether a partial upgrade was possible, with only the users who needed more storage moving to Business Standard and everyone else staying put. Google confirmed it was, and Codelattice took the proposal back to Edumpus.

STEP 4

Upgrading 10 users and staying on call

Once Edumpus agreed, Codelattice converted 10 of its Business Starter IDs to the Business Standard plan. With Google's assistance on the request, the upgrade went through without much waiting time. Codelattice's team continues to provide Google Workspace Support around the clock at no extra cost, so the accounts stay looked after through the commitment period.

What was delivered

Edumpus Google Workspace Business Standard upgrade

The engagement covered the following for Edumpus:

  • Creation of Edumpus's email IDs on Google Workspace at the start of the engagement in September 2021.
  • A customized offer from Google for Edumpus's Business Starter accounts, requested and secured by Codelattice.
  • A three-year commitment price on the Business Starter accounts, replacing the rate Edumpus was paying at renewal.
  • A check with Google on whether a partial upgrade could be done for Starter accounts, since extra storage was no longer sold.
  • Conversion of 10 Business Starter users to the Business Standard plan for additional storage.
  • Round-the-clock Google Workspace Support from Codelattice's technical team at no extra cost.

Results

Both of Edumpus's concerns were resolved, and the partnership is still running. The outcomes are specific: a settled price, 10 users with the storage they needed, and a renewal that stopped being a worry.

  • Edumpus moved to a three-year commitment price on its Business Starter accounts and was happy with the rate it received.
  • 10 users now run on Business Standard, and the partial upgrade was completed without much waiting time once Edumpus approved it.
  • Edumpus had always planned to stay with Codelattice, and the three-year term now puts that plan into the pricing itself.
When Codelattice suggested going ahead with a three-year commitment, we never had to think twice as we are extremely satisfied with the service they provide, and anyway we were going to stay back with them for the years to come. So, we committed to the same and are now availing of a better offer. Also, regarding the purchase of Business Standard, Codelattice could help us get a resolution faster with the assistance of Google.

Why Codelattice

A renewal or storage question can look small, but the answer often depends on who you can reach at Google. Codelattice is a Google Workspace partner India businesses turn to for exactly that: taking questions to Google directly and following them through until the accounts are sorted.

A few things shaped how the team handled this engagement:

  • Direct access to Google. Codelattice took Edumpus's pricing and storage questions to Google itself, which is how a customized offer and a partial upgrade became possible for a client on Starter accounts.
  • Pricing that fits the client's plans. The three-year commitment was recommended because Edumpus intended to stay long term, so the lower rate matched how the client actually planned to use Google Workspace.
  • Upgrades sized to need. Only the users who needed more storage moved to Business Standard, so Edumpus did not pay for larger plans on accounts that were fine as they were.
  • Support that continues. Google Workspace Support runs around the clock at no extra cost, and the relationship has carried on since September 2021 through account setup, renewal and upgrade.
